It is a clear sign of how much our economy has changed in recent times. That is, while the share of workers who are members of labor unions has steadily and dramatically eroded, the number of small business owners has been on the rise. The U.S. is becoming more entrepreneurial as time passes.
Unfortunately, politics often fails to keep up with such change. In fact, the labor union vote gets lots of attention from politicians and the media, while the small business vote is rarely spoken of at all.
