Small Biz Health Care Daily: Remember What the Debate is About?

by Victoria Braden

I poured over all of the healthcare reform information of this past week – information that seemed to change daily. One article particularly struck me. It is by Kathy Scott, Brightside News, July 2009.

Kathy’s article sets the current debate upside down. Remember what the debate is about?

Rising healthcares costs – why? 15.5% of U.S. residents are uninsured. When these individuals seek medical treatment and cannot pay, the medical community has to readjust their expenses thus charging those who do pay more.

Uncompensated healthcare is anticipated to make up a little over 2% of the total healthcare spending in the U.S. in 2008, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Simple math? $56 billion versus the total U.S. healthcare spending anticipated at $2,420 billion.

Why then is Congress and our President proposing solutions that would cost another $1 trillion? Where is the common sense in this?
