The advisory board can be a powerful vehicle for identifying growth opportunities, accessing capital, fine-tuning marketing strategies, developing collaborative ventures and helping the entrepreneur fill human capital voids that the enterprise may need. The upcoming webcast will walk you through the “how to’s”, provide ideas on where to find potential advisors and how to leverage the group to optimize its purpose.
“From the Hill” A brief update will be provided on what Congress is up to in terms of legislation, and what may or may not get passed before the November elections. We will walk you through key measures in the new health care law that will impact your business, and when they are slated to take effect. Karen and Andrew will also identify new trends that may emerge from enactment of the law and how to prepare for them.
Interactive format: Karen and Andrew will take your questions live, on-set. We encourage you to send your questions early in the broadcast! This will increase the chance of your question being answered during the broadcast. If you wish, you may send your questions now to membership@sbecouncil.org.
Questions are already pouring in from SBE Council members, including:
• Should I expect a mid-year rate hike in my health insurance premiums?
• Will the state exchanges work given there will be substantial federal government control?
• Why are the small business tax credits temporary?
• I heard that Part-time employees will be included in the “head count” with respect to the 50-plus employer mandate. Is this true?
• I understand there could be a penalty of $3,000 per employee (for firms with 50 employees or more) even though I provide insurance. What is going on?
• Regarding an advisory board, is there a more informal model I can adopt – how do I do that?
• I'd like to hear thoughts on best practices for compensating advisory board members and the pros and cons for each from the company and adviser perspective.
• Regarding an advisory board, what type of confidentiality agreement should I use, if any?
