Good News on Productivity

We can all use some good economic news, and that was provided regarding productivity on May 6. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that first quarter 2010 nonfarm business labor productivity increased at an annual rate of 3.6%. That handily beat market expectations.

From the first quarter 2009 to first quarter 2010, productivity jumped by 6.3%, which, according to the BLS, "was the largest since output per hour increased 7.0 percent over the four-quarter period ending in the first quarter of 1962."

Of course, there are always those that can manufacture bad news from the good...

We need some good news on this front and you know what they say sometimes spreading a positive message is enough to turn things around.
Lets hope this is a turning point.
