TV star and free market friend Drew Carey illustrated a case of local government abusing small business in a recent video entry for “The Drew Carey Project” at Reason.tv.
In “Dance Ban: Footloose in Arizona,” Carey tells the story of a family-owned restaurant in Arizona called the San Tan Flat. It looks like a fun, family-friendly place. And the owners appear to be good neighbors. But county government has stepped in to harass and hassle the business in wide number of ways, including invoking a 60-year-old ordinance against outdoor dancing.
Governmental tyranny does not just occur at the national level. As this video shows, local government can be just as abusive.
