Taxes on Tech to Subsidize Biz Failures

The Internet has upset the newspaper industry. Innovation has a tendency to do that. So, established media companies and upstart entrepreneurs are working and competing to best serve consumers.

While this might be new and tumultuous for the newspaper business, it is not so in a dynamic, free market economy.

Unfortunately, government often fails to understand the market process. As a result, we get misguided, costly proposals like those being floated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC has put out ideas that effectively would have government bureaucrats calling many of the shots in the news business, and taxpayers providing bailouts to media companies through increased taxes...
